Lovely design
We had been looking for 2 zipless suitcase sets for the last 2 years. Our previous sets were Lovjel and Semsonite. Unfortunately the production quality of Lovjel had deteriorated (Hinges went from being made of alloy to integrated plastic with the 2 halves).
We explored aluminium options with Rimowa. The interior layout was excellent, however the light colour of the lining was not to our liking. For this reason and the high likelihood of the aluminium developing dents, we decided against the purchase.
When we came across the zipless Burly suitcases, we thoroughly examined them. We found that the exterior colour and material was excellent, hinges durable, the dimensions were dissimilar to the industry standard, interior lining colour was excellent, layout acceptable. The halves are of an asymmetric height, making packing earlier.
We purchaer a test set. After it arrived, we were very satisfied and immediately made another order.
A lot of thought has gone into the design of these suitcases, in our opinion they are the cream of the crop.
The karaka moss is the perfect neutral, a great colour that isn’t black or navy. The open top design is great and seems to fit more than a regular carry on. The hardware and case feel sturdy and the wheels are super smooth. A great all-rounder!
Love the color and top opening
I bought this set to replace a Samsonite that lasted me years. Head to head the burly was easier to roll over bumpy pavement and also had quieter wheels. It took a bit of time to get used to hard case as I missed the many external and internal pockets. I love the straps that keep the lid off the case upright when opened. All sizes have a lock. Also great is that all the trolley handles in the set are at the same height when extended so you can push them with one hand easily. I managed 35kg without trouble. A downside is it scuffed and marked easily. The fabric and lining inside is thick and luxurious. All 3 nest together in their storage bag to save space. The packing cubes were a great addition and help make up for having fewer pockets
